AACC ATE PI Conference 2017:

Thanks to the American Association of Community Colleges for sponsoring this event.

This page exists to support the Birds of a Feather: Badges and Micro-Credentials. My intention is to provide a place to capture the discussion and links that participants bring.

The Advance Resources are references to various examples of badging systems to establish the range of possible applications that currently exist. The Advance Resources are a potporri of examples and blogs (the Thinkers link) from here and abroad.

The examples I used to define the 'corners' of the badge space were social participation badges (Chicago City of Learning) to Bernard Bull's graduate Educational Technology badged Master's degree. IBM's badge system (IBM Badges) lies off the traditional academic axis by bringing new sorts of value to skills tracking and human resource management. The questions and interests that came up during our discussion started with an exploration of the ways that micro-credentials and badges might bring new value to learning opportunities we are working on for our students. Instead of replicating a whole set of links for other parts of this web site I am going to link you directly to the Badge Development page where I try to keep a current list of the resources that I keep needing to share with people interested in implementing badge systems. Let me know if you find that there is information you aren't finding that you feel like you need (my email is bemerson@cocc.edu) or links that are broken. Thanks!
