Teaching Philosophy:

Sometimes I think my involvement with the maker/hacker community is a recent thing and sometimes it feels like it's in my DNA. What is clear is that these are all expressions of a core value to me which is the care and nurturing of curiousity. While the Arduino and it's many related products can take us many places one of those that interests me most is it's ability to mediate and support our interaction with the world around us. Whether this is through gathering data or controlling other technology like quadcopters or 3D printers it widens the aperture through which we can connect with the world.

This class is also a community. The values we share and the way we act have a remarkable impact on our experiences within the community. In this class I ask that you be conscious of your role in that community and your potential impact on the learning and growth of your classmates. Feel free to hold me to that same standard. I am a great admirer of the Noisebridge code of conduct with is succinctly expressed as

"Be excellent to others!"
