The Problem:
People make all kinds of claims about their transportation efficiency. We have looked at cars and bikes and people walking to get a sense of the scale of the energy use.
People who ride motorcycles often assert that they are significantly more efficient in their use of fuel than those of us who drive cars. Your task is to check this assertion.
Find a source for information on fuel consumption for a motorcycle of your choice. Cite your source in your solution – if you're not sure what this means please ask. Calculate the energy consumption in kW-h/day if you commute 50 km a day on the motorcycle instead of a car. You can use the book as a model since you're just using different numbers.
When you're done comment on the meaning of your result. Is it almost the same as a car or much less? What is the trade off between safety and efficiency from your perspective.
