For each of these plots linked below we will explore how to make sense of them. We are trying to learn a set of strategies that help us recognize important features of a plot. Recognizing these features allows us to construct an understanding of what the plot is trying to tell us. Like everything we do in class the point is to learn how to figure things out NOT to know the answer.
In each case we will examine the following features of the plot:
- Labels on axes
- Units on axes
- Linear or non-linear
- Important features of plot
- correlations between parts
- What is it about?
- What does it say?
- What is still unclear?
