Coding and Technical Software

If you've been in this physics sequence since the beginning in PH211 you've heard my perspective and influences that led to my decision to make coding and LaTeX part of the physics curriculum. If you missed this you can find it in the intro to the PH211: Jupyter/Python/Markdown link to the right.

I recently had a chance to chat at lenght with a legitimate rocket scientist who worked on engine development for the Falcon at SpaceX. She is now at Firefly also working on rocket engine technology. I asked her about baseline skills she expects when she hires entry level engineers and scientists. One of those baseline skills is some level of coding experience. Work samples like the one you will create as part of the project for PH213 would demonstrate the desired level of basic competence. 'Nuff said!

These days we all need a tool for scanning written work to a pdf file that can be shared or turned in. Genius Scan is a cross platform tool that has been working well for the Math department. Let me know if you come across others.
