I listen to a podcast called Data Stories that I love. Recently they did an interview with Eva-Lotta Lamm about a notetaking process called Sketch Noting. This is actually how I take notes at conferences so I was intrigued. I learned a lot from the process and think that it might be a better way for many of us to take notes in class.
Here is a link to the podcast episode page. You don't need to listen to it but you might find it interesting.
Eva-Lotta's presentation about sketch noting is embedded part way down the page. Please watch and then respond:
How would you articulate the difference between traditional notetaking and sketch noting?
Do you feel like you have the 'drawing skills' to do this? Explain?
If you wish to receive credit for this Journal you will need to create a sketch note page for one of our physics classes. Embed your sketch note in the Journal submission.
Did you find that you remember the material from the class differently than when you look at a classmates notes from the same day? Does this technique have potential value for you personally?
Do you think we should teach sketch noting in PH211 as a tool for making more sense of the class?
