So, here is how this is set up. IF you are ready to dive straight into your engineering coursework and you are able to be a full time student (i.e. 17 credits/term) take a look at the first link. IF you are working 20 hrs a week or more and need to stretch this out a little but you are otherwise ready to roll on the engineering coursework try the second link. IF you need to do a little prep work (say math for instance) take a look at the third link. Because the work/school balance is such a common struggle for all students I have tried to encapsulate the relevant issues on the Work and School link.
Physics students will take the same coursework as the engineering students through their first "two" years of coursework. There are a couple of classes you need that COCC doesn't offer because we don't get many physics students. Don't sweat it --- picking up those classes won't be a problem.
In all cases make a point of getting connected with your advisor and getting his or her perspective on these issues. In very real ways everyone has a unique story that may well require subtle, or not so subtle, adjustments to the plan.
