ENGR 201: Solar Tracker: First Step

Each of the groups we identified last week will complete the following tasks.

1) Identify all the parts you need for your portion of the circuit and gather them (safely) together in preparation for future assembly. This also helps assure that I have ordered all the parts we need (usually something is missing).

2) Determine the external inputs and outputs that are relevant to your portion of the circuit. In each portion of the circuit there are signals or information that enter from somewhere else in the circuit or world and there are signals or information that you are passing on to other groups working on this circuit. Make a clear list of these important functions so that you can clearly articulate what sort of a cable you will need to connect your portion of the circuit to the rest of the world. Separate cables for inputs and outputs is good practice at this point in your electronic careers.

3) Find and assemble a notebook which contains complete printed data sheets for all important devices that are in your portion of the circuit. Resistors and capacitors are exempt but pretty much everything else you need to find. We will be learning to read these data sheets and find pertinent info on them. Wouldn't hurt to have .pdf copies of the data sheets on the ubiquitous thumb drive you carry everywhere:)

The sooner you have all this together the better.......
