So here's the big picture....textbooks are expensive and budgets for everyone are tight. It is wise to have a text for that unimaginable time in the future when you might want to remember this stuff. If you have the resources then that's a good reason to get an older edition of the text from Amazon. On the other hand there are also a fair number of quite good creative commons texts.
